Hi!  I got a springtime haircut on Tuesday.  This picture is a "before" picture. I will post an "after" picture soon!  The groomer smoothed out my facial hair some; you can still see, in this picture, where I was shaved when my left eye was removed. The groomer said I was very sweet.  And I have had a good week, eating well, walking well, just feeling fine! A week from tomorrow is my first heartworm shot.  I know my foster mom is a little nervous about it;  she says it will be painful, but I am a tough guy!  I will be fine!  Still, please be thinking of me! Hey there!  Here is a photo of me relaxing.  It is what I do best - passing the time as I move through my heartworm treatment. I am dreaming of my forever home.   Could it be yours?  

When I first arrived at my foster home, I wasn't sure what was going on.  I had been a stray, and then ended up in a shelter in South Carolina, and then traveled to Virginia to my foster home.   Lots of changes in a short period of time.  There were three other dogs in my foster home, and I was nervous!  When they would come close to my expen, I would growl.  Not every time, but sometimes.  Enough growling, though, that my foster mom thought when my time comes to be adopted, I should be the only dog in my forever home. Now, I wouldn't mind being the only dog in my forever home. I will tell you that. I wouldn't mind having all the attention and all the belly rubs.  I don't really need to be with other dogs. But my foster mom has been watching me with the other dogs in the house.  And I haven't growled at them for weeks!  They seem like pretty good dogs to me, and I like them.  So now my foster mom says it is OK if...

Most people all over the world are confined to their homes right now, and I am confined too, confined to this expen most of the time because of my heartworms.  I need to be kept quiet and still as much as possible.  My foster parents do take me out to snuggle in their laps or for short walks on a leash, and now that I am on some medication that helps a lot with my leg pain, I am enjoying walking around outside even more.  And, because I am a super dog in every way, I am a pretty good sport about my situation. My foster mom has put down soft bedding covered with blankets to make me comfortable. I am in the middle of the kitchen where most of the action is in my foster home.  Every once in a while I bark for a few minutes to remind everyone that I am there but mostly I am quiet and resting.  I am such a good boy.   And thanks for checking in!  Before we know it, I will be through with the heartworm treatment and will be ready to be adopt...

Since my first blog post, a lot has changed in the world!  You can tell by this picture, though, that I am taking COVID-19 in stride; I am relaxing in my foster dad's arms. I know I am in good hands here in my foster home.   I have had a few ups and downs over the past few weeks.  Sometimes I have some trouble with my rear right leg.  My vets have checked me out carefully, and I am on some new medications that are really helping!  Because no one knows what happened to me the first twelve years of my life (since I was a stray in South Carolina), it is hard to know if my leg trouble is due to an old injury or something else.  Anyway, the good news is I am doing better! This Friday I go back to the vet for my next heartworm tablet.  For those who don't know, when a dog is heartworm-positive like I am, I have to take my monthly HW tab at the vet to be observed. I did great with the first one, so am hoping I will do well this Friday. ...

Hi everyone, and welcome to my blog!  As you might know, I tested positive for heartworms, so am on medical hold for a while.  About once a week, I will post about my adventures in my foster home!  Although there won't be a whole lot of adventures because I have to stay quiet during the treatment. :( Here is the first picture my foster mom saw of me.  This was my shelter picture, before I had my painful left eye removed.  Check out my tie!  I also had a longer hair-do.  My foster mom got me a stylish short haircut soon after I arrived in her home.
